Prof. Wenying Zhuang, elected to Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Prof. Wenying Zhuang was born in Beijing in July 1948, and graduated from Department of Agronomy at the Shanxi Agricultural College (now Shanxi Agricultural University). She received her master's degree at the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1981 and her PhD at Cornell University, USA in 1988.
She is an Executive Committee Member of the International Mycological Association, Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Editorial Committee of Cryptogamic Flora of China, and Editorial Board member of the international mycological journals Fungal Diversity, Mycotaxon and Phytotaxa.
She has long been engaged in taxonomy and phylogenetic studies of certain groups of ascomycetes. More than 130 papers, 4 books and chapters in 8 other books have been published including the revisionary treatments of several cup-fungus genera and regional investigations of fungal resources in China. More than 180 fungal taxa have been discovered new to Science.
