Prof. Wanqing Liao was born in Singapore in 1938. He graduated from Fourth Military Medical University. As a famous dermatology and medical mycology expert he is currently the dermatology chief physician in Shanghai Changzheng Hospital (affiliated to Second Military Medical University).
Prof. Liao has engaged in medical research and teaching for 47 years. His research on fungal disease basic and clinical won the National Science and Technology Progress (Grade 2). He also won the National Science and Technology Progress (Grade 3), the National Invention Patent, the Army Medical Achievement Prize, the second reward of Military Science and Technology Progress and 14 items other types of awards.
In 2002, PLA General Staff Department, General Political Department, General Logistics Department and General Armaments Department honored him as “Significant Contribution to Professional and Technical”. In 1990, he was awarded by the General Political Department and the State Ministry of Personnel as “Young Expert with Outstanding Contributions for the Country”.
Prof. Liao Wan-qing served as president of Mycological Society of China, vice chairman of Medicine Fungi Professional Committee and vice chairman of Mycology Professional Committee in Chinese Society of Microbiology. In December 2008 he was honored as "Generation of Star Teacher" by PLA General Logistics Department.
